The Ballyea Community was shocked and saddened to hear the sad news that Anthony Carey passed away yesterday Wednesday 2nd April, 2025.
Ballyea GAA Club Committees and members wish to send our sincere sympathies to his wife Mary, his daughters Anne Marie, Sinead, Antoinette, Sarah, Emma, his son Owen and the extended families, many of whom are involved in the Club. Anthony held many positions in Ballyea GAA Club Committees down through the years and was heavily involved in various projects and fundraising for the Club. He leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten.
As news spread yesterday, it was very obvious that Anthony was held in very high esteem thoughout Ballyea and beyond. He was not alone a loyal Ballyea GAA man but a Ballyea Community man also.
"He would give you anything", "He would do anything for you", "He was always first in line to help out and never looked for the limelight" are some of the kind words that have been said of Anthony. What wonderful traits to have and to be spoken about so kindly by everyone.
Ballyea GAA Club will be holding a Guard of Honour to send Anthony to his final resting place. (Details to follow)
