In 2002 Tony Griffin became the first club player to play in an All Ireland senior hurling final but unfortunately Clare were defeated by Kilkenny
Tony Griffin became the first player from Ballyea to win an All Star award in 2006
In 2008 Niall Keane became the first Ballyea man to win an All Ireland under 21 medal with Clare.
In 2010 Paul Flanagan became the first club player to captain the county team to a Munster championship while fellow Ballyea men Tony Kelly & Cathal Doohan were also part of Clare’s Minor winning side.
In 2011 Tony Kelly became the second Ballyea player to captain the Clare Minor team to success in the Munster final and he was ably assisted by fellow club players Jack Browne, Gearoid O’Connell and Niall Deasy.
Our very talented young players continued to represent the county with distinction and in 2012 Paul Flanagan, Tony Kelly & Jack Browne won All Ireland under 21 and Munster medals with Clare to bring further honours to the club.
The year 2013 turned out to be the most successful one in the clubs history with Tony Kelly & Paul Flanagan becoming the first Ballyea players to win All Ireland Senior medals after a memorable replay victory against Cork, Paul also became the first club player to captain the county to All Ireland glory and he was ably assisted by fellow club men Tony Kelly, Jack Browne & Gearoid O’Connell in Clare’s second successive All Ireland under 21 success. Tony Kelly also became the first ever player to win Player of the year & Young player of the year awards in the same year while he also became Ballyea’s second player to win an All Star award.
In 2014 Clare won their 3rd All Ireland U21 title in a row. The team was captained by Tony Kelly who have a man of the match performance in the final victory over Wexford. This victorious team also included Jack Browne , Gearoid O’Connell and Niall Deasy.
